IRL (in real life)
accommodation
Experts in boarding recognize that the more home-like the experience, the better. That’s why Hoffnung Haus is a large family home, complete with Houseparents, brothers and sisters. Boarding students bunk in triple rooms, either on the boys’ or girls’ floor and share an open-concept living area and can enjoy a variety of outside activities (See the video).
meals
The kitchen churns out homemade food to be enjoyed together at a long dining room table.
Students prepare their own lunches before school each morning.
Everybody pitches in and takes turns helping with chores around the house.
Study
Hoffnung Haus is located in a neighborhood just 12 minutes' walk from Hope Academy (with whom CAB works exclusively). Weekday study hours from 7:30-9:00pm ensure students have a concentrated block of time set aside for quiet study. Parents can track their student’s academic progress online.
intentionality
Houseparents consider boarding students their primary disciples. In addition to daily group devotional times, Houseparents commit to praying for each student and taking advantage of teachable moments in every-day interactions.
life skills
What do students need to be able to do on their own before high school graduation? Laundry, personal finances, time-management and conflict-resolution are some of the areas covered throughout the high school years.
discipline
Students are expected to live by rules that honor God - benefiting both the person and the group. Natural consequences and restorative practices enable a student to “clean up their mess,” be called to a higher standard in grace, repair relationships, and apply lessons learned to their lives.
